Nicole Bacon is known for her enthusiasm and inspired teaching style, which incorporates both physical and meditative aspects of the practice of yoga. Her fascination with the science of the brain and innate intelligence of the body extends through her teaching to how we can harness this knowledge through our practices and apply it to living in today’s world with a certain simplicity, grace and sense of gratitude. Nicole’s personal practice and teaching of yoga draws continuously on her life experiences and students, and is inspired by the teachings of the passionate Zoe Stewart (in the BKS Iyengar tradition) with whom she studies regularly, and the loving kindness of Nancy Gilgoff (in the Astanga Vinyasa tradition of Sri K. Patthabi Jois).
An ‘international’ American, Nicole was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1969, and subsequently lived with her family in Saudi Arabia, England and Switzerland, before landing in the Boston area for college (Wellesley) and subsequently graduate school (Tufts University School of Nutrition Science & Food Policy). Nicole has been studying and teaching fitness and health since 1987 and yoga since 1996. She worked in the fields of international nutrition and refugee health prior to devoting herself full time to her children and yoga, co-founding Yoga Mandala studio in October of 2001, in the heart of Winchester, MA. Nicole currently co-owns and runs the studio with fellow internationalist, Alicia Matheson, and where: Personal practice and mindfulness meet seven days a week!
