2011 Yoga Mandala/Yoga Loft Instructor Program

Richard Bach wrote in Illusions, “Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you.”

Join Jen Ryan (Yoga Loft, Wilmington) and Nicole Grant (Yoga Mandala, Winchester) and guest teachers for a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training. Our comprehensive 200 hour instructor certification program is designed to be a gateway to personal transformation. Your RYT experience will significantly deepen your practice and understanding of the consciousness of yoga." Join us for a profound inner journey — carefully sculpted through honesty and love in an atmosphere of community and support.

This certification process is an integrated program designed for serious practitioners of yoga, yoga teachers, and those considering teaching yoga in the future. You do not have to have any teaching experience, just a desire to learn more about the yoga practice and deepen your own personal practice through advanced study, asana, philosophy and practice.

Jen and Nicole will be conducting many of the classes and workshops, but will be inviting many skilled teachers in for specialty classes, advanced workshops and anatomy and physiology classes.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

This 200-hour instructor certification program will meet for ten months, one weekend a month (typically the first) from September 2010 through June 2011. This program complies with the Yoga Alliance standards for inclusion in the national registry of yoga instructors. Areas of study include: Techniques, Teaching Methodology, Anatomy & Physiology, Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle, Practicum, Electives, Networking hours and Independent Study.  Students are evaluated in the following ways: Practicum (observation in teaching); examinations and papers (which will be reviewed by one or more faculty members); and performance (an opportunity for student and teacher to evaluate the trainee’s progress in her/his asana practice during the course of the program). After successful completion of the program and evaluation process, the trainee will be awarded a certificate of completion from The Yoga Loft and Yoga Mandala, recognized by the Yoga Alliance. Graduates may apply to the Yoga Alliance for their National Registry of Certified Yoga Teachers upon receipt of their certification.

RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITES

Applicants to the program should be taking at least one to two group classes per week for 40 weeks per year for preferably two to three consecutive years. A minimum of three days per week home practice is highly recommended (may include meditation, pranayama, asana and other forms of self-study, such as reading) to reinforce the essence of what you learn in class and through self-observation.
